The Poetry Barn
A literary center located in New York's Catskill Park, Poetry Barn hosts workshops, readings, retreats, and is home to the largest independent poetry lending library in the region.

Founder Lissa Kiernan wanted a way to thank the funders who helped The Poetry Barn become a reality. She was inspired by Walt Whitman's poem "I saw in Louisiana a live-oak growing". We both loved the idea of a tree- it was perfect for the location as well as all the traditions and associations with growth, strength, knowledge, and inspiration.
And so I became inspired by the gnarly limbs of an old oak near my home, and designed, constructed and installed a lovely tree inscribed with all the names of the friends and supporters of The Poetry Barn!
